Clips that need rendering are still given a red timeline marker, and clips that don’t are still green. Adobe has added a new Yellow playback category. Timeline scrubbing and previewing are more responsive, too. Another useful tweak is the ability to apply effects to multiple clips at once. The Media Browser brings hunting for clips within the app itself, which makes importing from hard drive, disc and Flash memory easier. Premiere Pro CS4 includes a selection of lesser, but still useful productivity enhancements. Unfortunately, the search facility doesn’t extend to phrases. The Find box in the Project and Effects panels also extends to the Metadata panel, so when you type in a word from a script, for example, it should be highlighted in the Speech Transcript. This reads all manner of information about the chosen file, such as EXIF schema. The Metadata panel within which this_transcribed text appears is a new addition. But its recognition abilities should improve with the right pronunciation libraries, which will ship with UK copies. Our review copy came with only the US_English dialect recognition files, however, and didn’t do very well transcribing our UK English test files, although you can edit the text manually. It has garnered quite a positive reaction, so it’s no surprise seeing similar abilities arrive in Premiere Pro. This is a feature that sneaked into Avid Media Composer a few minor releases ago, and is now fully integrated with version 3. You can also click on individual words in a transcript, which the current time marker will then show in the Source window. It is a powerful but simplified keying solution compared to Adobe's flagship and more extensive ' Keylight' plugin for Adobe After Effects.Ingeniously, Premiere Pro CS4 has also integrated the ability to transcribe dialogue to text automatically, so you can use this as searchable metadata to aid finding specific parts of a script in a complicated project. Īs of Creative Suite 5 (released April 2010), a plugin labeled 'Ultra' is now present in Adobe Premiere Pro. VideoMerge allowed keying effects to be performed in the editing process, rather than requiring extra steps in an external program or mode. Īdobe Premiere Elements 7 (released in October 2008) provided a new feature called VideoMerge.
The vector keyer could also be activated for live footage, allowing a single computer to key 3 cameras, display different backgrounds for each camera, and stream the result out live to the internet using Flash video.

Īdobe Visual Communicator 3 (released in September 2007) had the full vector keyer control of Ultra built into it, along with some simplified virtual sets. After CS3, the keyer from Ultra was integrated into two other Adobe products – Visual Communicator 3, and Premiere Elements. Ultra as a standalone application was distributed with Adobe Creative Suite 3 (released March 2007) but noticeably absent from CS4 (released October 2008) and CS5 (released April 2010).

Unlike many of the other applications in the Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Ultra only runs on the Windows operating system. Ultra was previously known as Serious Magic Ultra Key, and was acquired when Adobe purchased Serious Magic Inc. Since its discontinuation as a standalone product, the functionalities of Ultra have been incorporated into other Adobe products, namely Adobe Visual Communicator (since 2007), Adobe Premiere Elements (since 2008), and Adobe Premiere Pro (since 2010). Ultra also included virtual set technology, which allows the keying of a subject into an animated virtual 3D environment. Ultra performs complex image analysis to produce high quality chroma-key effects in less than ideal lighting environments. Adobe Ultra is a discontinued vector keying application, helping produce blue-screen/ green-screen effects for video (although the background can actually be any color).
